Google’s Sword Of Damocles?

I think Google’s Sword Of Damocles pretty much sums up what can be said is the future of search. At the last SMX conference I attended earlier this year, I spoke up from the audience with Matt and Danny on the stage about the Google Toolbar’s +1 smiley and frowny from the preblog-historic days. The feature went away. I always liked the concept! That’s why when Danny asked Matt about how Google intends to counter Facebook’s Like button, I brought up the feature as the Google Toolbar +1 thing. I knew it to be a feature that could lead to better personalized results, much like what the Facebook Like button led to for websites. I encoded the Facebook Like plugin into Mobile Sidecar so you can drill down by Facebook shares using the software. Likes and shares are so obviously important for serving ads alongside the future of search, when search will be more heavily influenced by shares and likes. I can’t be sure that my comment named the new service: Google Plus. I certainly used those words in that session which predated its launch!
